Before DOOH can court bigger ad budgets, it must adapt the automated tools marketers use for measuring and buying against performance to a media channel that straddles the online and offline worlds.
The IAB Tech Lab has updated its OpenRTB standard to include objects specifically designed for DOOH. It also published new DOOH-specific guidelines and technical resources for real time bidding in collaboration with the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA) and Outsmart, the Out of Home Advertising Association for the UK.
The pandemic tossed a curveball to the out-of-home advertising industry. Ad revenue plummeted. But “spending is definitely back,” says Anna Bager, president and CEO of the Out of Home Advertising Association of America. “It’s a rebound.”
