Mike, I think that DSPs and ad networks will both offer their version of media buying methodologies which have a good selection of inventory and are easy to buy from. They will have to compete and we will see who can do this better.

The big advantage ad networks have is an experienced sales team. Taking a client out for dinner or to an important sports event, treating them very well and having a strong very personal relationship with them is a significant advantage over DSPs. In sales I find that person to person contact often beats any competitors calling on the phone.

It just seems to me that DSPs and ad nets will be fighting it out for agency dollars (euros/ pounds) going forward. Why doesn't CPX think about going to the advertisers direct? Radical. But it seems to be the logical course for ad networks. Disintermediation can work both ways.
